Fergie, John Legend, Jimmy Kimmel and hundreds of more entertainers have teamed up with HeadCount to encourage citizens to get to the polls on Tuesday for the midterm elections.

More than 300 celebrities have joined the New York-based nonpartisan organization in its get-out-the-vote push by sharing photos of themselves on social media using the hashtag "#GoVote." HeadCount aims to get those who only cast ballots in Presidential races involved in the Congressional ones as well.

"The incumbent Congress is the least popular in history, so we can't leave it to the candidates alone to inspire people," said HeadCount's co-founder Marc Brownstein. "We're trying to get the message across that being dissatisfied is a bad reason not to vote - it's the exact reason why participation is so important."

HeadCount, which also used a similar campaign to urge people to register to vote in September, understands the power of celebrity influence.

"When a musician puts their face and name to something it just reaches a lot more people than an organization can on its own," the organization's executive director Andy Bernstein told Enstars.com at the time. "The total social media reach of all the entertainers in the campaign is 550 million. It's a mind-blowing number."

Bernstein also explained why this year's midterm elections are critical.

"Every single member of Congress is up for re-election this year," he said. "So everybody has somebody to vote for or vote against."
