It looks like Lady Mary might find herself a decent suitor in an upcoming Downton Abbey Christmas special.

Will Thomas Have Something To Smile About On 'Downton Abbey?'

On Saturday, Telegraph announced that Watchmen star Matthew Goode is set to make an appearance on the British drama as a potential man for Lady Mary. The site didn't mention if the actor would be in the Christmas special this year or next year, but it will likely be in 2015 since the series has already finished up its fifth season with episodes that aired in the United Kingdom.

A spokesman for the TV show confirmed with the site, "Matthew Goode will appear in the Christmas episode as a guest character."

When Could 'Downton Abbey' End Its Final Season?

One of Goode's credits include playing Adrian Veidt in Watchmen. He was also in Match Point and A Single Man.

This gives some curiosity if he'll end up becoming Lady Mary's official man or if he'll just be around for this episode in particular.

For all the fans in the United States who are anticipating what's about to take place, Allen Leech (Tom Branson) promised that there will be some enticing stories coming along.

"Downton is again in a period of change," Leech told People. "The first socialist government comes in, and you have a very conservative house very worried about it. And there are great story lines for characters like Edith, and where she was left at the end of the last [season]. Is she going to be able to deal with the fact that her child is basically no longer hers? Some really, really great stuff."

Downton Abbey Season 5 will premiere in the U.S. on Sunday, January 4 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.
