Olympic Medal Count 2012 Chart: Can The United States Overtake Powerhouse China?
As the 2012 London Olympic Games works its way down to the home stretch, the medal count appears to be getting more interesting in its final days up until the closing ceremony. Many are becoming increasingly curious as to who will walk away with the most medals after all is said and done at the highly acclaimed festivities.
The United States has clearly dominated throughout the games, but has been seemingly neck and neck with powerhouse China throughout. However, America only leads by five total medals 83-78 and China is actually up on the red, white and blues by 2 in the gold 37-35.
It is clearly not a shocker to see Team USA amidst the top of the Olympic food chain once again. Their brilliant teams on both the women and men's sides in basketball are going to play pivotal roles as the end of games rolls near.
But the pressure will be on as both sides are considered by many to be locks to bring home more gold and add to the count, amongst other sports.
America's women soccer team could achieve the victorious feat against Japan today also, and with a lot of Track and Field left to go, the U.S. is expected to add even more meDal to their arsenal.
With the 2012 London Olympic Games coming to a close on Sunday, August 12th, the next few days will be pivotal for the United States to remain in contention for the most gold medals.
