At this point not many truly know what Sony is doing with their Spider-Man series, but any number of combinations could be coming to theaters near you soon. But could this villain be portrayed by a pro wrestling star in one of the upcoming films?

Recent Quotes By Sony CEO Show Possible Direction For Spider-Man

Irish Central chatted with Stephen Farrelly, or Sheamus, on Sunday and the pro wrestler open up about his desire to possibly take part in a superhero movie. He had one character in mind though: Venom.

"I always read comic books as a kid, I always remember Eddie Brock, who was Venom in the Spider-Man comics. He was kind of a red head," he said. "I'd love to play the role of Venom and Eddie Brock. Venom was one of my favorite characters. It would be a dream come true for me to star in the next Spider-Man film as Venom."

Could 'Amazing Spider-Man 3' Be Cancelled Due To Poor Reception Of Previous Movies?

Farrell hasn't done much acting outside of his wrestling persona but it seems like now is the best time for wrestlers to move to Hollywood. Dwayne Johnson has become a bonafide star with hits like the Fast & Furious series and his upcoming superhero movie, Shazam. Dave Bautista has also made a name for himself through Guardians of the Galaxy and will also be featured in Bond 24.

There were plans originally for a Venom movie to be directed by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 writer Alex Kurtzman, but those were scrapped when Kurtzman was given the reigns on the new Universal monsters universe and Sony decided to do a female-led movie instead.

The character could still function in the Spider-Man world as a part of the Sinister Six though, which is the next movie coming out, or he could always pop up in the hero's third standalone movie if it ends up happening.
