Austin Mahone and Camila Cabello reportedly split after he accused the Fifth Harmony star of using their relationship "to sell albums."
Less than a month after Cabello confirmed their relationship during an episode of Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, the singer appeared on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, where she revealed she and Mahone were no longer together. One day later, a source came forward, explaining why the couple called it quits.
“There was some trouble in the relationship brewing and as a last-ditch effort, Camilla made it official. That was one of the biggest stumbling blocks: She wanted to tell people and he wanted to keep it low key,” a source told Hollywood Life on Tuesday. “When she revealed that they were dating, he accused her of using it to sell albums and she was hurt by that and they both decided to break up.”
Although Cabello didn't announce the relationship out of the blue on Watch What Happens Live, she did step forward when host Andy Cohen asked which one of the girls was dating Mahone. Days later, on the red carpet at Nickelodeon's Halo Awards, Cabello gushed about Mahone, telling Hollywood Life he was a "really, really good guy."
Mahone also spoke out about the relationship publicly, calling Mahone an "amazing girl," in the latest issue of Teen Vogue, via Hollywire.
Although the pair have been on tour together in recent months, their partnership has since ended, which will make the breakup easier on both parties.
“Now that they aren’t touring together, it made it easier to make the split,” our source revealed. “They aren’t bitter with each other and something might happen with them in the future but right now, they both are enjoying the clean break. They both decided that it was a long time coming.”
