On Twitter Thursday Hawes had teased fans about a "rock star" who had come to visit them on the Dublin set, though he kept fans guessing as to who that person might be.

Hawes had insisted that this guest was not a member of the cast and promised he'd try to snag a photo the following day, for which he delivered with the image of Harry Treadaway (Victor Frankenstein), Eva Green (Vanessa Ives), and Smith.

Fans had initially thought the visitor was Sting or maybe a member of the Rolling Stones, focusing on the "rock star" comment as their top clue. Even though no one had guessed it, they were still delighted with Hawes' big reveal.

Penny Dreadful returns on Showtime for a second season in 2015.
