Speculation has focused on Clara's (Jenna Coleman) possible Christmas departure, but The Mirror is now reporting that Coleman might stick around until half way through season 9.

While there is no concrete evidence either way, a BBC spokesperson did address the matter while speaking with The Radio Times.

"This is speculation so we won't be commenting," a BBC spokesperson said. "Viewers will have to watch the Christmas episode to find out!"

Coleman, for her part, is also keeping mum on the issue.

"You get good at keeping secrets - this one in particular is quite difficult because you don't want to be evasive, and you want to answer questions, but at the same time I just look back at different points of the show, where we had things like Oswin [her first appearance] in Asylum of the Daleks, when people didn't know, and it was just better," Coleman told The Radio Times. "The show is better for the surprises. So that's why we're being very evasive. Very coy."
