Mad Men will finish off the remainder of its seventh and final season on AMC in 2015, but it looks like the drama is poised to go out on top.

'Mad Men' Star Puts 1950s Style Home Up For Sale

While some popular shows wane in critical acclaim or social popularity during their last few seasons, Mad Men still carries the prestige it first developed when it began nearly a decade ago.

In honor of the approaching new year, HitFix recently polled critics as to what their favorite shows and performances were for 2014. Each series earned a certain number of points based on how many lists it topped or came in second on.

'Mad Men' Star Scores New Showtime Series For 2015

Mad Men scored slot no. 7 on the critics list, beating out Netflix's hit new series Orange Is The New Black, which came in at no. 8. The ad agency drama was beat out by resident award darlings HBO's Game Of Thrones and The Good Wife on CBS, as well as HBO's True Detective which was listed at no. 5.

Considering most of Mad Men's competition is at the top of their game, the AMC drama's inclusion as somewhat of an old veteran remains impressive.

Recently creator Matthew Weiner claimed that the program's stars have yet to receive proper credit at the Emmy Awards, but this season's critical acclaim mixed with the nostalgia of an ending series might just be enough to score a few wins next year.

Mad Men returns on AMC to finish off the remainder of its seventh and final season in the spring of 2015.
