With new episodes of Fox's Gotham beginning Monday night, one of the show's executive producers is revealing what to expect as Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) makes his big transition to Arkham Asylum.

The first half of the season closed on Arkham Asylum, Gordon's new assignment where he will work as a security guard. The corruption of Gotham will be further exposed in upcoming episodes, according to Gotham executive producer Danny Cannon.

"Not only are there dangerously insane people there, but some people are put there for the wrong reasons," Cannon told TVLine recently. "[Arkham]'s a big rug that corrupt Gotham can sweep people under."

It remains to be seen if there will be any recognizable villains in Arkham Asylum, which is well known in the comics (and movies) for inhabiting pretty much every significant Batman villain ever introduced.

Despite this dark underbelly, there will be some hope for Gordon in the form of Dr. Leslie Thompkins (guest star Morena Baccarin), a medical practitioner at Arkham. Cannon said that Gordon and Leslie have "a lot in common. We have a lot of plans for that relationship."

As for Gordon's fractured relationship with Barbara (Erin Richards), they will apparently have another "setback" as Barbara enters a "very dark" place in Monday night's episode.

The TVLine report also reveals that little Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) will continue to hang out while fans will be introduced to the parents of Robin, Bruce Wayne's future sidekick.

Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
