A new report suggests that Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) will finally meet his match in a new character, a Russian opponent, Anton Ivonovich, in House of Cards.

The character will perhaps be just as vile as President Underwood, and might make life tougher for him. Air Herald reported that this character is likely to appear in a scene that is set at the United Nations.

Although the producers wished filming would take place in the United Nations headquarters in New York, they were denied permission as the Russian representative disapproved. This might also have encouraged the show runners to be honest in their portrayal of Russia being a bit of a trouble maker whenever it came to America.

Earlier last year, it was also revealed that Jenna Stern will be playing a UN ambassador, most likely representing the United States of America.

In another interview, Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland, dished about coming on board as a guest director for season 3 of House of Cards and a little bit on what lies ahead for Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) presidency.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Holland revealed a bit about how Frank will have a lot to deal with, and hinted at his engagement with international affairs, particularly the Russians.

"Without telling you what happens, once Francis Underwood becomes president, suddenly he faces different responsibilities and international situations, and I think there are some similarities to what's going on now. Because I have knowledge of international politics, know more about the Russians and what they do, I can bring that to the show."

The third season will premiere on February 27, 2015.
