Hilary Duff & Mike Comrie Estranged For One Year, But Son Luca Remains Center Of Relationship

Elle shared a new interview with actress and singer Duff on Tuesday that revealed what's going on in her life as a single mom.

When asked how it made her feel to uproot her entire life for a TV show after not having been on TV for a while, her response was: "It's a show with such an age range of women, and I really liked that...It was a little scary to think about uprooting my whole life and moving to New York, but the city is definitely a key player in the show."

Duff went through her twenties just like everyone else. She reportedly had the struggle of finding herself with the addition of being in the spotlight.

"I had to take a really long break from everything. I was like, 'I don't really care about getting the best role anymore or making a career choice, I just need to step back, be at home, and like hang out like a normal 20-something-year-old person."

Duff has a handle on her self esteem too. She has reached a state of body love that doesn't make her "fall into a trap."

"I'm not a model; I'm an actress. I always feel like I'm in the five to ten pound struggle, but my life is so busy...I'm normal and I'm perfectly happy being that way. Some weeks I'm like, 'Man, my clothes are fitting so good' and then some weeks I'm like, 'I need to cut back on a few things,' but that's it. I don't fall into the trap of having to be 110 pounds."

When asked about her height, she recognized that she was pretty short, but her son, Luca, is tall.

"And I have a large son! He's huge! He's in, like, the ninetieth percentile. I'm confused. [ex] Mike [Comrie] isn't that tall, either. I'm 5'2" and I've got a kid that looks almost four years old? I'll take it!"
