Charlotte, NC, is the home to the Democratic National Convention from Sept. 4 -6.

Thousands of delegates and massive numbers of people will pack into the stadium to hear President Barack Obama speak later on in the week and Michelle Obama's speech on Tuesday night will highlight her husband's strengths, his campaign and what the president hopes to carry out if elected for another term.

The first two days of the 2012 Democratic National Convention will be held at Time Warner Cable Arena. President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will accept the Democratic nominations for President and Vice President on Thursday, Sept. 6 at Bank of America Stadium, according to the event's official site.

On Sept. 3, President Obama visited landowners affected by Tropical Storm Isaac, saying, "We're here to help. I promise you that now that I've been here, they're going to make sure that they do it right" - referring to officials taking actions to help damages caused by floodwaters.

Obama will rally in Virginia on Tuesday before coming to speak at the convention a day later.

According to ABC 7, Democrats announced their party platform on Tuesday, which includes Obama's call for higher taxes and his new support of gay marriage. The platform showed support for "the freedom of churches and religious entities to decide how to administer marriage as a religious sacrament without government interference."

Taking a stab at the Republican campaign, Obama said in a USA Today interview that the opposing side created a "fictional Barack Obama" to circulate around, misrepresenting his words and ideas to hold them against him.
