The co-creators of ABC's Once Upon a Time recently revealed what Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) and more will be up to in the upcoming second half of season 4.

'Once Upon a Time's Emma Discovering More Of Her 'Magical Powers' In Second Half of Season?

Mr. Gold was banished from Storybrooke in the winter finale back in December and he will obviously attempt to return. Once Upon a Time co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz discussed this and more in a new interview with TV Guide Magazine.

"Mr. Gold suffers from a bad case of hubris and, as a result, he lost everything," Kitsis said. "But he's not the kind of guy who'll just accept that. He's thinking that maybe Regina (Lana Parrilla) isn't so crazy - that if he can find the Author (of Henry's storybook), perhaps even villains can have their happy ending. But Gold is going to need other villains to help him out with that."

These villains are the Queens of Darkness, a.k.a. Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten), Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit) and Ursula (Merrin Dungey). As it turns out, the villains are actually more evil than previously assumed.

"We reveal that they are far worse than we think they are," Kitsis said. "Cruella, in particular, is aptly named."

Meanwhile, the people of Storybrooke will be dealing with even more potential destruction after Regina and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) manage to release a monster upon the town.

However, "this monster is not just about wanton destruction. It will lead to a startling revelation about Emma - something that'll be huge news to the audience," Horowitz teased.

It looks like the second half of the season will be pretty action packed, with Regina in particularly keeping very busy.

Once Upon a Time returns for season 4B on Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
