On Saturday, the gold medal winner took to his Instagram to announce the big news with a photo of the couple having some snow fun. Johnson is on top of her fiance as they cuddle and smile for the camera.

The image shows Johnson's fancy ring on her finger that looks like it's shining pretty bright.

The fact that these two are engaged might come off as joyful news for some, but it also might create a bit of a controversy. This is because Phelps has been known to have allegedly dated Taylor Lianne Chandler who has been extremely open about this.

On Sunday, the woman took to her Facebook page to post a link about the engagement as well as her feelings about it.

"The lengths someone will go to try and redeem their image," Chandler wrote. "No marriage can hide the truth and reality. It's sad to me that a woman so pretty would allow herself to be sucked into all this by Octagon. Nicole has known the truth since October. How convenient they now say they rekindled their romance after rehab in November. He still cheated on me with her and the dog walker."

Phelps has yet to come forward about the claims made by Chandler.
