They quickly won the Oscar for best original song moments later, but even before their moving acceptance speech, John Legend and Common delivered a powerful message with a performance of Glory on the Oscars stage.

The duo performed their song, from the movie Selma, and delivered the powerful message from the initial march the film is based on, with a replica of historic Edmund Pettus Brudgeon the stage with them-before they brought out a crowd of people to symbolically walk across it.

The march chronicled the historic one that was led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1965.

Shortly after the performance, Legend and Common went on to win the Oscar for the song, and drove home the point of their song's message in their speech as well.
