E!'s Fashion Police star Giuliana Rancic might have gone a little too far when commenting on Zendaya Coleman's Oscar look.

She took to her Twitter to apologize for her statement.

"Dear Zendaya I'm sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!"

She also took to the E! website to apologize via video.

"I do understand that something I said last night did cross the line. I didn't intend to hurt anybody."

Still, she acknowledged that she did "offend" Coleman as well as other fans.

"I am so, so sincerely sorry. This has really been a learning experience for me. I've learned a lot today. It has taught me to be a lot more aware of cliches and stereotypes and damage they can do."

During an Academy Awards special of Fashion Police, Rancic described Coleman's dreads. She said, "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil...and maybe weed."

Coleman caught wind of the comments and took to her Instagram Monday night to clap back. She not only called Rancic's remarks "disrespectful", "ignorant" and "outrageously offensive" but educated Rancic on other famous women such as Ledisi, Ava DuVernay (Selma director) and renowned author Terry McMillan, who rock dreads.

"None of which smell like marijuana," Coleman said. "My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in psotiive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough. To me locs are a symbol of strength and beauty, almost like a lion's mane..."
