Actress Zooey Deschanel confessed that the reason why she posed with a grumpy face at the Emmy's red carpet last Sunday was because she was overshadowed by Nicole Kidman.

Deschanel appeared Tuesday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and discussed the much talked about pose where she looks visibly uncomfortable with her hands on her waist.

Deschanel described how the photographers went crazy over Kidman who was standing next to her.

"She's a movie star so I said 'Give it up for the movie star' so I'll just stand here like this," Deschanel said immitating her pose (see picture above).

"I was standing back so they could take a picture of Nicole Kidman but apparently some of this guys were still trying to take a picture of me," she said. "That's the face of someone who has given up," she added pointing at the infamous picture.

The actress who has also appeared in some movies, also addressed her reaction to Louis C.K.'s Emmy win, which was also discussed on Twitter.

"I didn't realize how excited I had gotten until later, people started tweeting me that picture. It was just pure unbridled enthusiasm. I'm a fan."

Deschanel is known to many for having a slighly awkward personality. The actress was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for "The New Girl."
