Fans of ABC's Castle are concerned that star Stana Katic's recent tweet could signify the conclusion of the show at the end of season 7.

'Castle's Beckett Suspicious Of Hong Kong Colleague In New Episode

Katic, who plays Beckett on the series, had a Q&A session with her followers on Twitter Sunday, with one particular question and answer standing out.

A follower tweeted, "Castle Series Finale is approaching.....how do u feel ?" to which Katic responded "Proud of all we've accomplished. Grateful 4 being part of the ride."

Considering the follower wrote "series finale" instead of "season finale" and Katic did not correct him, some other followers were a bit thrown off. Castle is currently in its seventh season and while there has not been a decision made yet on if it will return for season 8, some are taking this as a bad sign.

Even Katic's message sounds as if she is looking back on the series, which could signal the end soon.

There is no real indication if she let it slip that this will be the final season of the show, but there have been seeds of doubt for a while now.

Katic and her costar Nathan Fillion (who plays Castle) are coming to the end of their seven-year contracts with the option to renew them. This process has apparently not taken place yet and it is still uncertain if ABC wants to renew the show for season 8.

The actress had previously indicated that she would want to preserve the integrity of Beckett and end "on top" rather than go on for the sake of it.

"I don't think that a show should overstay its welcome," she explained to TVLine back in November. "If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it's better to stop when you're on top, because I admire the way that they did that with The Wire, you know? Tell a great story and then go home and move onto something else. Don't milk it 'just because.'"

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
