Fifty Shades of Grey has become a global phenomenon, and fans are anxiously waiting more details about the film's second installment, Fifty Shades Darker.

It has recently been confirmed that Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan will be returning to the big screen to reprise their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, and the duo spoke about their roles in the new film and how their characters will experience a series of changes.

During an interview with MTV, the actress said that in the new sequel, Ana goes through a sort of a transition phase as she grows as an individual and becomes a new woman.

"She goes through such an ark in the first book and really like explores herself in this whole other world," the actress said. "In the second book, I think Ana becomes a woman."

Johnson also said that it's a really interesting situation to portray the role of a woman who finally becomes accepting of herself.

Dornan believes that because the Fifty Shades franchise is growing and the fact that he's been called back to reprise his role as billionaire businessman Mr. Grey makes him believe that he approached his role pretty well.

The heartthrob said that in E. L. James' erotic novels, his character was forced to undergo a various changes that will most likely be portrayed in the film adaptations of the author's tribology.

"I feel good about where I wanted to take him and what I felt with him," the actor said. "We'll see different sides of him so I'm looking forward to exploring that."

According to the film's new IMDb page, the sequel will follow Grey as he is forced to deal with his inner demons while his love interest, Anastasia Steele must deal with her insecurities surrounding the women from Mr. Grey's past.

Fifty Shades Darker is set to hit theaters in late 2016. Official release dates have yet to be confirmed, so be sure to check in for more updates.
