Reality television hasn't proven itself to be an affective match maker.

The latest potential breakup comes from Bachelorette star Emily Maynard and fiancé Jef Holm.

Apparently the bachelorette is trying to pay off Holm, 28, to keep quiet about a possible infidelity on behalf of Maynard, according to Us Weekly. In August, Maynard, 26, was caught texting with another man by Holms who reacted by using this to his financial advantage:

"Emily told him 'I'm so sorry' and he said, 'Well, we have two options: The first is I can go to the media and tell them the truth and let everyone know what you're really like. Or two, I will deny the whole thing and you give me half the money you made from The Bachelorette.'"

And who was Maynard texting with?

Kaylee Shepherd, the source for Us Weekly who was Holm's ex-girlfriend, stated that the man behind the texts is Matt Leinart, the 29 year-old quarterback for the Oakland Raiders.

Shepherd claims she had a close talk with Holm. "When she put her phone down, [Jef] picked it up and read through everything... Jef said, 'It was that pro football guy.. She strung me along and was talking to another guy the whole time!'"

The couple has so far dismissed the claims. On Wednesday Maynard commented about the tabloid rumors to E! News and that they "just try to laugh about it and not read it." She added, "I trust him, he trusts me, and that's really the bottom line."

During The Bachelorette's finale in July, Holm professed his love for Maynard and proposed to her. There's still not much of a betting chance for the two as they're only one of three couples still together that came out of the eight seasons of the matchmaking series.

Now it looks like it could have been all a show.
