Vikings Siggy is no more.

'Teen Wolf' Season 5 Premiere Date Announced, Jeff Davis Teases Overarching Theme

After a tragic two seasons, Jessalyn Gilsig met an untimely end during "Scarred," sacrificing herself to save two of Ragnar and Aslaug's sons. The departure may come as a bit of a shock, but Gilsig's personal issues demanded it was time to say goodbye to the Northmen drama.

"At the end of season 2 I had some family issues, and living overseas in Ireland just wasn't conducive to me feeling like I could do what I needed to do on behalf of my family," Gilsig explained to Entertainment Weekly. "We're over there for at least six months at a time-and I think, going forward, they might be there for almost a year. So I could see this was going to become really difficult."

Just as Gilsig choose to leave the program, Siggy ultimately made the decision to leave her life behind. Having fallen from an Earl's wife to a servant over the last few years, Siggy has spent so much time yearning for her status back. Siggy is unable to reverse the tides, however, and chooses to find her old family in the afterlife.

"She can fight to pull herself out of the situation, or she can let the fates take her, and hopefully be reunited with her family," Gilsig told Entertainment Weekly. "She's such a loner. She's such a solitary figure. She's lost so much. I think she makes that choice to give up the fight."
