Even some problematic body-swapping can't eliminate the chemistry between Rebekah and Marcel on The Originals.

Klaus Prepares For Dahlia's Return On 'The Originals'

This season actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers has stepped into the role of Rebekah after the original vampire (played by Claire Holt) was placed in the body of a mortal witch. Since then, Richards has been tasked with playing the character as if she'd been there all along.

On Monday, the actress sat down with TV Line to discuss her new role, as well as what Rebekah's new witch-self means for Marcel (Charles Michael Davis).

"For the first time ever, Rebekah's more vulnerable than Marcel," explained Richardson-Sellers. "She's always been the all-powerful Original, but now she's in serious mortal danger, so it's going to be interesting to see how that changes the dynamic between the two of them."

In addition to these relationship complications, the former occupant of Rebekah's new body, a powerful witch named Eva, is trying to break through. This could be dangerous even for Marcel, and yet his devotion to Rebekah has always been strong.

"Marcel is really the only one of Rebekah's lovers Klaus hasn't killed," noted Richardson-Sellers. "He's the one constant in her life, apart from her brothers, so I think their relationship is actually very tender and loving."

"I'm excited to see how their relationship develops," she added, "But her being in a new body is going to make that a little awkward for her. There are going to be a lot of problems there."

The Originals will return to the CW with the remainder of its second season on Monday, April 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
