In an exciting development for fans of Arrow and Flash, Dominic Purcell is coming on board the spin-off inspired by both shows.

Deadline reported that Purcell will reprise his role as Mick Rory in Flash, who later becomes known as the anatgonistic Heat Wave and teams up with Captain Leonard. Leonard will be portrayed by Wentworth Miller in the new show, the actor has worked with Purcell on Prison Break in the past.

The series is being conceptualised and produced by the Arrow team of Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim and stars Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer aka the A.T.O.M, Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein and Caity Lotz as Sara Lane/Black Canary.

Things To Get Worse For Oliver In Upcoming Episodes OfArrow 

In January this year, CW president, Mark Pedowitz, teased the show at the Television Critics Association, according to IGN. The publication investigated the possibility of the spinoff focussing on Ray Palmer aka the Atom (Brandon Routh).

"With any character you bring on this show that's a possibility, depending on how the fans react and the character is received and developed," Routh said. "You know they've shown with The Flash that just being a part of Arrow that it can work. It's exciting. The sky's the limit. DC and The CW have done a great job with the two shows and the platforms in terms being their own entities. What the future holds, who knows? But anything is a possibility."

Recently Berlanti also spoke to Variety about what fans can expect from this incredible mash-up:

"For us, first and foremost, with all of [our shows], it's about 'how is it its own thing?' Because we don't just want to do it to do it. Some people do that and then they're three episodes in, thinking, 'Why did we do this?' So for me, I compare the shows to old Westerns; we have a lot of lone gunmen and sheriffs in town, and this one is very much an ode to things like 'The Magnificent Seven' or those great heist pics like 'Ocean's Eleven' where you get all of those colors at the same time, and a true ensemble, and that was the fun of it...
