Taraji P. Henson's success on shows like Empire and Person of Interest haven't stopped the star from feeling the scorn of racial profiling.

Both Henson and her son, 20-year-old Marcel, have experienced racial profiling. During a recent interview with Uptown the actress admitted that her son would not be attending the star-studded University of Southern California because he had been racially profiled near the campus.

"Police stopped him for having his hands in his pockets," claimed Henson, who noted that she had considered transferring Marcel to the school before the incident had occurred.

Since then, the actress has decided that it would be in her son's best interest to attend a historically black college and has enrolled him at Howard University. While the fact that Henson also attended Howard might bias her, she insists the decision was made in order to keep her child safe.

"I'm not paying 50 K so I can't sleep at night wondering is this the night my son is getting racially profiled on campus," she explained.

At the moment Henson also happens to be working on a Civil Rights movement film, which is still in its early stages.

"We just sent the script to George Clooney," she admitted. "He's looking for more endearing, emotionally moving projects to direct so we sent it to him. That's what I'm really focusing on right now on my off time."

Between her son and career, Henson is definitely busy these days. According to the actress, however, she's just getting started.

"This journey is not over…" she declared. "I'm just scratching the surface. For whatever reason, God gave me this life, and I'm not gon' f*** it up."
