The development of Transformers 5 is finally coming out of its sleep stage, for a very long time we'd had no word about the movie. But now that we know that the writers are busy at work, it seems like the movie might be sticking to its originally proposed release date.

Will Megan Fox Join The Age of Extinction Sequel?

On account of all the uncertainty, which also involved rumors of director Michael Bay quitting the franchise, there was heavy speculation about the release of the sequel to Age of Extinction being pushed to 2017 from the inititally suggested 2016. Now we can say with some sense of assuredness that the movie will hit theaters sooner.

It was recently revealed that Michael Bay is confirmed to be directing the film and will be collaborating with Akiva Goldsman and a bunch of new writers. According to Deadline the writers will be brainstorming about ideas not only for the fifth instalment but possible multi-part sequels and spin-offs. Bay, whose next project, a movie based on the book, Thirteen Hours: A Firsthand Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi by Mitchell Zuckoff, hopes to get cracking on Transformers 5 right after he is done. The director would like the script and screenplay to be worked out by then so no time is wasted.

Liam Neeson To Voice Vector Prime In Age of Extinction Sequel?

Last month, a report sourced a Twitter user, who stated that the movie would be releasing on June 24, 2016, via a tweet. While the source doesn't seem to be a trusted one, the fact that production for the movie might begin soon -- as was revealed by Mark Wahlberg, who will be reprising his role in the movie -- means that it is very much possible that Transformers 5 might make its 2016 deadline.

To add to that, in an interview with MTV, Michael Wahlberg put speculation about his return to rest by confirming that he will be reprising his role for Transformers 5. The actor also hinted that production would begin soon in the same interview.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
