Outlander is back, and the Starz series will give fans an eclectic mix of canon and new twists during the second half of the freshman season.

We recently told you how well Outlander will toe the line when it comes to an reflecting Diana Gabaldon's graphic interactions at Wentworth Prison, but now we'll tell you what will be different as the Starz series heads into summer.

"I think there's everything in there that's in the book. However, there's going to be some new characters, new scenarios that maybe aren't and they certainly add to the world and are really exciting," Sam Heughan (Jamie) explained to Pop Sugar. "I honestly think the second part of the season is stronger, darker, has more energy, and I think it's really going to thrill people when they watch it."

Meanwhile, book-fans will find that the certain late-season scenes will be relocated from France to Scotland.

"Instead of going to France and playing all the abbey scenes there, I chose to keep the abbey in Scotland so there is still a danger to them and a need to escape," executive producer Ronald D. Moore informed TV Line. "[But] the abbey scenes are still there."
