Thursday night's new episode of Scandal was unlike any other, and sadly, fans said goodbye to one of the most beloved characters.

During the new episode I'm Just A Bill, Olivia Pope's dangerous father returns and he's ready to hire her to handle his problem and when she refuses, Jake Ballard is killed at the hands of Liv's dad.

The episode opened with Liv getting a surprise and unwanted knock at the door and she's shocked to learn that her father has returned to town.

"You see, apparently there's a group of people who have decided that I'm a criminal," Rowan Pope barks at his daughter. "They're building a case. Some preposterous claim about a secret spy organization called B613 that I'm supposedly the head of. I mean, have you ever heard anything so ridiculous?"

Rowen gives Liv 48 hours to put the matter to bed for good and when she doesn't, he decides to take matters into his own hands and viewers learn that Liv's new man Russell isn't exactly who he's pretending to be.

In the last 15 seconds of the episode, Russell attacks Ballard in the OPA office and stabs him to death and sadly none of the team is aware that this has happened.

In a sneak peek for next week's episode, the drama will pick up exactly where it left off and it looks like Daddy Pope is ready to strike again.

"My father will kill all of you just to teach me a lesson," Liv says to her living friends while the narrator insinuates that it's anyone's guess who makes it out alive.
