Ellen Pompeo Speaks Out About Patrick Dempsey's Exit From 'Grey's Anatomy'

In case you missed it, Dempsey's character was killed off last week in the latest Grey's Anatomy episode called How to Save a Life.

Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) was at her husband's hospital bedside when she decided to take him off of life support after he endured a horrific car accident.

What We'll Miss Most About McDreamy Now That He's Gone From 'Grey's Anatomy'

Dr. Shepherd, otherwise known as McDreamy, has been on the medical drama since its inception and many fans feel as though creator Shonda Rhimes did not do the character justice in his sendoff.

Grey's Anatomy fan Courtney Williams from Georgia started a petition on Change.org, demanding, "Bring Dr. Derek 'McDreamy' Shepherd BACK!!!"

"This is important because you cannot have people invest a DECADE into a character and then you just terminate them like that!" Williams stated.

The fan insists that since the series has "brilliant ideas and writers," they can bring back McDreamy and make it seem like it was all a dream or a hallucination.

"You can't continue the show without McDreamy. It's not going to happen," Williams divulged.

The petition requires 75,000 supporters and is already at just over 70,000.

Will showrunner Shonda Rhimes listen to what Grey's Anatomy fans want? Probably not since it's clear Dempsey wanted out from the show, but their passion toward his character is remarkable.

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursday nights on ABC.
