A Martha Stewart-Inspired Inmate Is Coming To 'Orange Is the New Black'

Lea DeLaria, who plays Big Boo on the prison dramedy, has officially been bumped up to series regular status for season 4, according to a new Deadline report. The actress had been billed as guest star for the first two seasons of the show, and will continue to be for season 3, which is released in June.

She now joins fellow guest star Jackie Cruz, who plays Flaca on the series, as being bumped up to the main cast for season 4.

The main cast of Orange Is the New Black has continuously grown over the years. Starting out with just Taylor Schilling (Piper), Michael J. Hanrey (Sam Healy), Kate Mulgrew (Red), Laura Prepon (Alex), Jason Biggs (Larry) and Michelle Hurst (Miss Claudette) for season 1, the series has expanded to include the following actors into the main cast: Uzo Aduba (Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren), Danielle Brooks (Taystee), Natasha Lyonne (Nicky), Taryn Manning (Pennsatucky), Selenis Leyva (Gloria), Adrienne C. Moore (Black Cindy), Dascha Polanco (Daya), Nick Sandow (Caputo), Yael Stone (Morello) and Samira Wiley (Poussey).

Hurst was removed from the main cast after season 1 after her character was sent to maximum security prison, while Biggs' Larry will not be in season 3 at all.

It remains to be seen if DeLaria's promotion will lead to more screentime and/or her own backstory episode, like her fellow prisoners.

Orange Is the New Black season 3 will be released on Friday, June 12 on Netflix.
