The movie takes place in a present-day idyllic kingdom where Prince Ben (Mitchell Hope), the son of Beast (Dan Payne) and Belle (Keegan Connor Tracy), from Beauty and the Beast, declares he's offering redemption to the offspring of Cruella de Vil (Wendy Raquel Robinson), Maleficent (Kristin Chenoweth), the Evil Queen (Kathy Najimy) and Jafar (Maz Jobrani).

The offspring are Carlos (Cameron Boyce), Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson) and Jay (Booboo Stewart) and they will be attending prep school with the non-villainous Disney offspring inside the kingdom.

Time will tell if these supposed evil descendants will actually follow in their wicked parents' footsteps.

Boyce, Cameron, Carson, Stewart and Hope dished on their characters, which can be viewed below.

Boyce, Cameron, Carson and Stewart are the evil characters in this movie and they dished on how they auditioned for their villainous roles.

It turns out a lot of things about this movie were initially top-secret so Cameron's initial read-through of the script was hush-hush. She couldn't even leave Disney HQ with the script.

"I just thought it was just a genius, brilliant idea to bring the fairytale to modern-day," Carson dished.

Boyce pointed out it was an interesting concept to have the villains as the leads since they're usually cast to the side.

Hope is stoked to "continue on that legacy" of the fairytales.

Auditioning and getting cast aside, the cast especially those playing the descendants of the Disney villains were thrilled to take on their roles.

The four villainous offspring are typically misunderstood since they were in exile because of their parents prior to being given the chance at redemption.

"His overall general personality," Stewart said of his character Jay is the most misunderstood thing since he has been taught evil doings since he was young by his father.

Cameron made an interesting assessment of the characters in Descendants though. She firmly believes that not a single one is evil.

"I don't think anybody is evil in this film. I think that they are purely-They don't have the broadest spectrum in terms of experience. They have not been shown a lot of kindness in life," she explained.

She even spoke of how they make a good comparison to "a street dog," since children are always told not to pet them, but the dog isn't bad, yet it only seems to know abuse and fear.

Cameron explained that her character Mal and the other offspring from the Disney villains are under the impression "that bad is good."
