B.B. King, known as the "king of the blues" has passed away at the age of 89.

King's daughter, Patty, told CNN he had passed away in Las Vegas Thursday night, where he had been in home hospice care the last two weeks after suffering from dehydration.

King received several honors throughout his career, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and was known for not slowing down his long career, no matter how old he got.

The The Thrill Has Gone singer's reign as the King of the Blues spanned over six decades, and he is being credited and remembered by several of his musical collaborators on social media, with several saying he helped inspire them.

Buddy Guy also posted to Facebook about King, writing, "This morning, I come to you all with a heavy heart. BB King was the greatest guy I ever met. The tone he got out of that guitat, the way he shook his left wrist, the wat he squeezed the strings...man, he came out with that and it was all new to the whole guitar playin' world. He could play so smooth, he didn't have to put on a show. The way BB did it is the way we all do it now. He was my best friend and father to us all. I'll miss you, B. I love you and I promise I will keeo these damn Blues alive. Rest well. "

Eric Clapton also shared his sorrow over King's passing on Facebook, posting a video where he talked about how much the legendary musician inspired his own career.

"I wanted to express my sadness and to say thank you to my dear friend B.B. King," he said in the video. "I want to thank him for all the inspiration and encouragement he gave me as a player over the years and for the friendship that we enjoyed."

He was also remembered on Twitter by several other artists, including Ringo Starr, Lenny Kravitz and Brad Paisley.
