Though suspicions about them were aroused long ago, no one has yet uncovered the truth about just why Serena (Melissa Archer) and Xander (Paul Tefler) have been hanging around on Days of Our Lives--until now.

Nicole and Xander Grow Closer

Nicole (Arianne Zucker) has been trying to figure out what Serena is up to pretty much since the moment she arrived in Salem, and figured out that there was some connection to Xander as well, which prompted her to try and lead the conman on into trusting her enough to divulge secrets. However, Nicole underestimated just how dangerous he could be--especially when it comes to getting what he wants.

Xander, who is actually Alexander Kiriakis, has been keeping his true feelings about Uncle Victor's (John Aniston) almost hero-like worship of both Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Dan (Shawn Christian) hidden, and it has only increased his rage more steadily as time has gone on. Adding insult to injury, Nicole clearly has unresolved feelings for Dan and obviously wants to be with--which is also making Xander angry--and he's getting creepily possessive of Nicole as a result.

Serena Worries About Nicole's Safety

Now, Nicole will begin to get worried about how dangerous Xander could really be--and she will be shocked when she encounters some information as she does research, and realizes he has done time in the past--for murder.

Meanwhile, Serena has some major explaining to do after Eric (Greg Vaughan) sees an old photograph of her and Xander in bed together--holding the elephant statue she made such a big deal about. Now, after keeping all of her initial motives hidden from him for so long, Serena will finally come clean about the whole scam she has been running since she got to Salem and will admit to the diamond smuggling and her old affair with Xander--likely ruining all chances of a future with Eric for good in the process.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
