Santiago, a bloodsucker from New York's local vamp clan, will weave in and out of the 13-episode freshman series. Labeled as a recurring guest star, according to Spoiler TV, Castro's "ambitious and cunning" character will have plenty of chances to send shockwaves through Clary Fray's (Katherine McNamara) supernatural world as he looks to become the leader of his clan.

The upcoming series will follow the adventures of Clary Fray, an 18-year-old girl whose life is turned upside down when she discovers that she is a Shadowhunter. Half human and half angel, a Shadowhunter is responsible for hunting demons; a mission Clary will become quickly acquainted with when her mother his kidnapped. As the teen tumbles into Clare's world of angels, demons, vampires, and humans, she will be joined by her pal Simon (Alberto Rosende) and a fellow Shadowhunter named Jace (Dominic Sherewood).
