The Los Angeles Lakers (1-3) will look to win their second game of the NBA season when they take on the Utah Jazz (1-3) on Wednesday night. However, the Lakers must do it without the services of one of their newest acquisitions, guard Steve Nash, who suffered a non-displaced left leg fracture a week ago during the team's loss to Portland.

Winless during the preseason and off to their worst start in over 30 years, the Lakers began their attempts to tone down the criticism with a 108-79 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.

Lakers' guard Steve Blake spoke about the importance of the team's first victory, according to Yahoo.

"We needed this bad, just to change the mood and give us some of that feel-good feeling. Losing games was tough," he said "I guess we did a good job of staying positive, but it feels good, that's for sure."

In the game against the Pistons, Dwight Howard put up 28 points while Kobe Bryant had 15 along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Although he's currently hindered with a sore foot, Bryant is still averaging 26.8 ppg.

The greatest concern for Los Angeles appears to be the health of the 38-year-old Nash. The star player recently came over from the Phoenix Suns after inking a three-year, $27 million dollar contract during the offseason. The two-time MVP could be out of action anywhere from one to four weeks.

In four matchups with Utah last season, the Lakers won two of them. However, the Jazz have been victorious in five of their last seven home games against LA, which includes a 96-87 win on Feb 4.
