As part of a recent live Twitter Q&A with fans, Carrie Preston addressed the question of her return as Elsbeth in season 7 of The Good Wife.

Critics Unforgiving Of Controversial Season 6 Finale Scene Of The Good Wife

When asked what fans can expect from her character in the next chapter, Preston did not confirm her role, but stated that of the showrunners do call her back, she didn't "know how they'll top penguins in my head, treadmill desks" and making out with Kyle MacLachlan in her office. It would be very interesting to see Elsbeth return and lighten things up on the legal drama, which had gotten quite tense lately. It also seems very likely that Preston will be coming back, as the next chapter will reportedly focus on the legal aspect of the show and take things back to the court room, which will give plenty opportunity for Elsbeth's quirks to take over.

Another fan also asked Preston about how much fun it was for her to film the 'Call Me Maybe' scenes in The Good Wife. "That song is STILL in my head LOL. I had a ball.. the writers give me such wonderful things to do on #TheGoodWife," she tweeted in response.

The Good Wife To Start Afresh With Next Chapter?

One of the more interesting questions posed to Preston was what character would she like to play if given the choice on The Good Wife. Preston opted for Diane, who is portrayed by Christine Baranski on the show.

In other recent news related to the show, the premiere date for season 7 has been revealed. The next chapter of The Good Wife will begin on Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.
