Gabrielle Union Dwyane Wade: Actress Doesn't Want Honeymoon Phase To End [VIDEO]

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are coming up on their first wedding anniversary and the Being Mary Jane actress said she wants to stay in the “honeymoon” phase “lasts” as long as possible.

She spoke with Essence magazine recently and said Wade is also mushy about their marriage every chance he gets.

“I hope this feeling lasts the next 50 years. It’s a good time for us. It’s actually a learning curve to get used to how happy he is. He’s one of those people that likes to say ‘my wife.’ ‘Well, have you talked to my wife? Let me ask my wife. Where’s my wife?’ He’s that person. It’s cute. I love how happy he is, but it’s definitely taken a minute to get used to someone who’s that happy.”

As far as getting ready for the big day, Union said her favorite part was her best friend, actress Essence Atkins serving as the officiator. She also said performers like John Legend, Ludacris and a special gospel choir made the day memorable. But when it comes to preparing for the marriage for the days after, she credited other “happy married people around us” for their relationship being a success. Now she’s able to help others who are wondering how to stay happy themselves.

“People are like, ‘what’s the secret?’ I’m like ‘The secret is understanding there is no secret.’ You just got to figure it out every day.”

She added that hanging out with other couples who are happy is a big help.
