Erica Mena and Bow Wow are gearing up for their wedding and while the two have no problems gushing about their love for one another in interviews and on social media, Mena revealed her affection for her future husband sparked long before he even knew she existed.

“What people don’t know is that, when I was a kid and he was Lil Bow Wow, I was obsessed with him,” she told Hollywood Life earlier this month.

“The funny thing is,when he met my mom, she pulled out this bucket and it was all my posters and teeny bopper stuff with him on it. He doesn’t need to know how long I loved him. He thought it was funny.”

Well it must have been fate because the two actual sparked a friendship back in “2007 or 2006” when she had a role in is Fresh Azimiz video. They then rekindled their connection in February of last year when she guest co-hosted a special Valentine’s Day episode of 106 & Park with him on BET. Interestingly enough, they kissed on camera and that is when they both have said their romance began (despite them both being in relationships at the time). Still, she maintains they didn’t become more than friends until they were both single.

“Life has a funny way of working out. We were friends…I was going through a breakup and he was dealing with someone. We were confiding in each other. We were going back and forth. Once I was done with my relationship, that’s when we started to spend a lot of time together. We are so alike, we know so much about each other. We’ve been in each other’s lives.”
