Justin Bieber's name was in the headlines in 2013 much of the time for the wrong reasons.

He pissed in buckets, cursed out Bill Clinton, split on people and wrote simply the wrong thing in the guest book at the Anne Frank house. He lost a PR war with the Germans, who confiscated his pet monkey, and was called out for disrespecting Argentineans when he mishandled the country's flags that were thrown on stage during his Nov. 9 Buenos Aires concert.

A clip that surfaced in 2013 showed Bieber naked while only holding a guitar that covered his privates. He was charged with vandalism for spray-painting graffiti in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in November and then got reportedly kicked out of his hotel in Argentina after rowdy fans swarmed outside and caused a disruption.

He also angered Australian officials, most notably the mayor, when he spray painted a hotel wall in the country. Officials ordered him to clean it up or entertain the town to make amends for his actions, but he did neither.

Bieber's troubles in 2013 also included drugs.

Marijuana was found on his tour bus in July and in April 2013 A pilot who flew him this year said the pop singer was stoned on the flight from smoking so much marijuana, and that he was on the verge of putting on an oxygen mask.

A skydiving facility banned Bieber for life after he backed out of their payment deal, a stripper admitted to having a wild night with him and a female guest went unconscious at his California home while attending a party thrown by the singer. He was also accused of calling a fan a "beached whale" by an eyewitness.

Bieber was sued by a photographer claiming one of the singer's body guards pulled out a gun during their dispute. He also faced lawsuits for allegedly spitting on his neighbor and speeding recklessly in his Calabasas, Calif. neighborhood.

Bieber apologizes for some of the incidents and stayed silent about others. He explained his relationship with the press in a radio interview on Dec. 9 by saying he is bullied and "attacked" by the media.

Bieber announced on Christmas Eve his decision to step away from the music industry and retire. He tweeted, "I'm officially retiring."
