Justin Bieber made a stop in Amsterdam on his tour in Europe and visited the Anne Frank House, but left fellow visitors bitter after leaving a seemingly insensitive message in the guest book.

Frank fell victim to the Nazis in 1945 during World War 2, and after she died, the 15-year-old girl left behind a diary later published under the title The Diary of a Young Girl.

According to the museum's Facebook page, Bieber had visited the site with his friends and guards. Fans waited outside to catch a glimpse of the singer while he spent more than an hour at the museum.

"In our guestbook he wrote: ‘Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.’ Bieber will perform in a concert Sunday night in Arnhem in the Netherlands," the page stated.

Other visitors to the historical site reacted strongly.

“She would’ve been a WHAT? That little idiot is way too full of himself. She’s an important historical figure so show some respect,” wrote one in response to the post.

"Here I thought it was nice of him to go and see the history of her until I read what he wrote. Have some respect Mr. Bieber for she will be famous long after your fame fizzles," wrote another.

But one source familiar with the situation said Bieber’s actions were not nearly as insensitive as they had appeared.

“In the time he spent at the museum he had been told that Anne Frank posted photos of celebrities from her time on her wall. So that was the context of why he wrote what he did,” the source said.
