Justin Bieber announced on Christmas Eve his decision to step away from the music industry and retire.

The 19-year-old tweeted on Tuesday night that he is officially letting go of the microphone. He also tweeted that he would "never leave" his fans, so it is a bit unclear as to what the retirement entails.

"My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring," the All That Matters singer wrote. "The media talks a lot about me. They make a up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I'm never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle."

The pop star finished his announcement with, "Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER."

The news comes less than 24 hours after his Believe documentary hit theaters on Christmas Day and a week after his interview with Power 106 radio station where he said he was going to quit the music business.

"Um, I'm actually retiring, man," Bieber said about the future of his career, adding, "I'm taking a ... I'm just gonna take some time. I think I'm probably gonna quit music."

Though his rep declined to comment about Bieber's remark to Enstars at the time, the singer's manager, Scooter Braun, told OMG! Insider that the singer is just talking off a year to just "hang out." Braun also told Ryan Seacrest on Dec. 18 that he encouraged Bieber to take some time off after Believe comes out on Dec. 25.

"I'm telling him after this movie, I want him to take next year off and just take a break and he can still live in the studio and work on the next album, which is what he wants to do, but I just want him to take some time to himself, so he can have that time alone cause he's been working since he was 12-years-old," Braun said.
