In a recent interview, Dave Clayton, animation supervisor of The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies, spoke about how Smaug will go about decimating Lake Town in the third film of the series.

Smaug Up Against Godzilla In Dragon Wars?

Speaking to IGN Clayton also spoke about all the work it would take to recreate the epic battle. Speaking of the dragon Smaug, he suggested that fans will finally see him wreak havoc.

"You know, in Desolation of Smaug it was more his personality, his paranoia...This time around he is going to be a killing machine in Lake Town," he said.

Clayton went on to state that he was not giving a spoiler as anyone who had read the book know "how it's all going to go down."

He went onto reveal how th film would actually start with Smaug breathing fire through the town.

"We're going to see some really cool stuff of him just destroying the place," he said, "it's going to be a really exciting opening sequence."

Speaking of recreating the "epic battle" he said that it was "going to be an epic amount of work for us to get through and bring it life." Adding that most of their energy this year would go in the battle.

Peter Jackson recently announced that the film's title was recently changed to The Battle of Five Armies from There and Back Again.

The final part of the trilogy, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies, will release on December 18.
