When Katie Holmes arrived Wednesday at the theater where she is performing her Broadway debut in "Dead Accounts," she got quite the reception.

An enormous horde of adoring fans showed up at the theater in New York City to greet Holmes as she arrived for the day's performance. Photographers caught Holmes flashing a giddy grin as she strolled by her legions of supporters.

The 33-year-old actress looked chic as usual in loose red pants, a grey blouse and cream colored cardigan. She accessorized with a maroon bag and white heels.

Though fans are turning out in droves to catch a glimpse of Holmes, "Dead Accounts" itself has garnered bad reviews from most publications, which has upset Holmes and discouraged her because she loves the play so much, Radar Online reported.

"Katie was devastated about the reviews because she's always been so passionate about Broadway," a source said. "It was her first love, well before she starred in 'Dawson's Creek' or any Hollywood movies. Appearing on Broadway was her childhood dream."

But the actress, who endured a high-profile divorce from actor Tom Cruise over the summer, is determined to salvage "Dead Accounts" and make the most of her time on the Broadway stage.

"However, she's adamant that she has to put it right. Katie will do anything to make sure the play's seen as a success by the end of its run," the insider added. "She's spoken to the writers and producers about possible ways to tweak and improve the production, while taking some of the critics' words about her own performance on board. Katie doesn't care if it means taking part in extra rehearsals because she's determined to make it work. Getting her career back on track post Tom Cruise has been one of Katie's priorities and this is the first step in doing that -- she wants to get it right."
