While they have certainly faced their share of setbacks, the Green Bay Packers (8-4) are once again where they want to be, atop the NFC North. The Packers will look to sustain that lead when they take on the struggling Detroit Lions (4-8) in Sunday night NFL action.
Astonishingly, the Lions haven't won a single game at Lambeau Field since Barry Sanders was their running back. To top it off, Detroit has come up short is 20 straight games in Green Bay since its last victory in 1991.
"It probably (means) more to the people who have been here 20 years than us. We just want to go in there and put a good game together and try to come out on top," Matthew Stafford told ESPN.
After dropping to second place via defeat on Nov. 25 to the New York Giants, the Packers now find themselves in a tie with the Chicago Bears. Green Bay is coming off a 23-14 victory against the Minnesota Vikings last week.
"Everything's right in front of us. We've got to go win our home games and get a couple wins on the road," said Aaron Rogers.
Rogers will attempt to bounce back from an inconsistent performance last Sunday. The reigning MVP was 27 of 35 with 286 yards with just one touchdown and an interception. He has a 7-1 lifetime mark in his career versus Detroit with his only loss at Ford Field when he suffered a concussion in 2010.
In terms of its backfield, the Packers have struggled to get the job done, ranking 11th in the NFC with an average of 105.0 yards per game and have scored only three rushing touchdowns overall.
