Oprah Winfrey selected the second book for Oprah's Book Club 2.0, the latest iteration of her famous segment, and her pick is boosting the sales of an author who has written her first book ever.

Winfrey announced last month that she had chosen "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie" by Ayana Mathis to read along with her millions of fans. A new report from USA Today remarks on how perfect the novel is for Winfrey's brand.

"If you read 'The Twelve Tribes of Hattie' by Ayana Mathis, you will understand exactly why Oprah Winfrey selected it as the second title for her relaunched book club," the report said, describing the book as "an exploration of race, gender and struggle.

The novel tells the story of an African-American woman named Hattie, her life, and the lives of her children during the The Great Migration of southern blacks to the North. Opening up in the year 1925, Hattie is introduced at the age of 17 as new wife and young mother from Georgia now living in Philadelphia. At the end of the book, she is 71 and a grandmother living in New Jersey.

"I have found it!" Winfrey said excitedly in a video on her website. "It has taken me a while, but I never choose a book club selection unless I really, really love the book and I am sure you will too."

Winfrey's video was filled with praise of Mathis, and she added that she was immediately hooked into the novel from the very moment she started reading.

"The opening chapter, it just floored me," Winfrey said. "Absolutely floored me."

She also expressed her admiration for Mathis, for achieving such a monumental success in her first novel ever. The mogul said, "This book touched me so deeply. The sprit of sacred truths just leaps from the pages. I knew I was having the privilege of watching a great author's career begin."
