The eviction target switched back and forth in the Big Brother 17 house on Tuesday, leaving Thursday up in the air.

Vanessa Viciously Confronts Steve On 'Big Brother'

Other houseguests: James Huling, Julia Nolan, Liz Nolan, Meg Maley and Vanessa Rousso

'Big Brother 17' Eviction Target Changes From John To Meg To James To Steve

The prevailing thought through most of the week has been that John will be evicted on Thursday. But John has been putting in some work to campaign for himself and really seems to have swayed Vanessa to his side.

He told Vanessa that Austin, Liz and Julia hid their plan to backdoor her, essentially saying she shouldn't trust them so much.

Vanessa later spoke with Austin about keeping John. She said that John would throw the next HOH competition, giving them a better chance of staying in power. Austin said that he was scared of Steve turning on him similar to how Ian turned on Boogie in Big Brother 14.

Meanwhile, Liz and Julia were steadfast in their plan to vote for John no matter what. They said that Vanessa might vote out Steve with Meg and James, which would send Steve out, but they (the twins) would not change their vote.

The houseguests mostly talked in circles throughout the night, so it's still unclear what will actually go down on Thursday. It would seem that Vanessa would stay with the twins and Austin, but it's possible she could go rogue and vote with Meg and James. Vanessa is the swing vote, but she does have powers of persuasion so she could still get Liz and Julia to change their minds. After all, whatever Vanessa wants to happen, does happen.

Big Brother 17 airs another new episode Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
