'Doctor Who' Season 9: Premiere Plot Revealed, Where Is The Doctor When You Need Him?

The Daleks are back, and it is rumored the Doctor may have a crack at ending their creator before he even gets started. Episode 2, "The Witch's Familiar," will set the stage for the Doctor to make a "mistake that [will have] cataclysmic repercussions."

"Trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor is at the heart of an evil Empire; no sonic, no TARDIS, nobody to help," the BBC teased. "With his greatest temptation before him, can the Doctor resist? And will there be mercy?"

The mystery, however, will begin in the premiere. Titled "The Magician's Apprentice," episode 1 will see the Doctor missing in action. On her own, Clara will have to deal with a mysterious alien force that has deigned to freeze the skies of Earth. Will Twelve's companion be able to solve the problem, or will she need to turn to one of the Doctor's oldest enemies for help?
