Survivor host Jeff Probst has weighed in on which castaways he thinks have no shot of winning season 31 - and his answers are causing controversy.

Are Kass & Vytas The Most Likely Candidates For First Boot on 'Survivor: Cambodia'?

Probst was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross before filming began on Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance, the show's upcoming season of all returning players. The interview, which was published Tuesday, is causing some buzz online in the Survivor community.

Asked who he thinks has no shot of winning the game, Probst proceeded to name five women:

Will Jeff Varner Be The 'Survivor: Cambodia' Mastermind?

"I would say Kass doesn't have a shot," he said, in the interview featured below. "I just don't think people want her to win. And if they don't, you're not going to. I think Shirin's gonna have a tough go of it. Now, Shirin could turn it though. It depends on what he does in the first few days. Shirin is gonna have a tough time winning, but that's only based on how she's coming into the game. So if Shirin on Day 1 turns it over comes in and says, 'Hey, I'm a fresh new player. Forget about last season,' she could be good to go."

He continued, "Peih-Gee - I don't think there's any chance Peih-Gee can win. Kimmi Kappenberg - depends who she's against. Abi - depends who she's against."

So that's half the female cast he thought were least likely to win the game. The other five women and all 10 men had an equally good chance of winning the game, according to Probst: "Everybody else, they can win against everybody. We have a lot of legitimate underdog likeable second chancers."

Many commenters have called Probst out on his lack of mentioning any males in the cast, especially those not deemed strategic, like Keith Nale and Woo Hwang.

Some of the players themselves have called Probst out, tweeting, retweeting and favoring criticisms about the interview:

(Favorited by Abi-Maria, Kass and Shirin)

Will Abi-Maria, Kass, Kimmi, Peih-Gee and/or Shirin prove Probst wrong in Cambodia? Many are hoping this is the case. Only time will tell.

Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance premieres Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
