The plot synopsis for the first episode of FX's American Horror Story: Hotel has been released, and it sounds like it's going to be good.

Lily Rabe Teases 'Insane' New 'American Horror Story' Role

FX has released a press release for the premiere episode, which is titled Checking In. The episode's synopsis is as follows:

"Detective and family man John Lowe [Wes Bentley] investigates a chain of gruesome murders in Los Angeles. A mysterious tip points him to the enigmatic Hotel Cortez. Written by Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk; directed by Ryan Murphy."

Lady Gaga Reportedly Willing To Do Just About Anything On 'American Horror Story'

The Hotel Cortez is owned by Elizabeth a.k.a. The Countess (Lady Gaga), a wealthy socialite who drinks blood in order to maintain her youthful figure. The hotel is managed by Iris (Kathy Bates), whose son Donovan (Matt Bomer) has a romantic relationship with The Countess.

Other quirky characters set to be featured in Hotel include drug addict Hypodermic Sally (Sarah Paulson), diva actress Ramona Royale (Angela Bassett), crossdresser Liz Taylor (Denis O'Hare), fashion icon Will Drake (Cheyenne Jackson) and hotel founder Mr. March (Evan Peters), who created the hotel in the 1930s.

This will be the first season without Jessica Lange, who has led the past three seasons of American Horror Story. The actress is preparing for her Broadway return in Long Day's Journey Into Night, coming in 2016. The play will be produced by Ryan Murphy, who co-created American Horror Story.

American Horror Story: Hotel premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
