Will new Castle addition Hayley (Toks Olagundoye) be flirting with one of the guys at the precinct this fall?

What New Character Is A 'Fantastic Adrenaline Shot' To 'Castle' This Season?

Hayley, a security specialist, joins the team in season 8 and makes a big impression. She even manages to catch Esposito's (Jon Huertas) eye, in a potentially romantic way.

"She is pretty cute, and I think Esposito has noticed that for sure," Huertas told TVGuide.com recently. "He's admiring the scenery right now."

Why Does Beckett Has To 'Fight For Her Life' Next Season on 'Castle'?

As far as the Lanie (Tamala Jones) factor of it all, we may be heading into a bit of a love triangle.

"Lanie hasn't necessarily noticed, but ... a triangle is a huge possibility and something I think we're definitely going to see this season," Huertas teased.

Castle fans should be relieved that Hayley may have her sights on Esposito rather than Castle (Nathan Fillion), as many had feared.

Castle co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter also spoke with the publication and added more fuel to the fire of a potential romance there.

"We're open to see where the natural progression of these characters go, but there is an obvious flirtation between the two that's come up in a couple episodes," Winter revealed.

But Esposito and Lanie is still a possibility, though not a certainty.

"There's always a chance that might come back, but we've been down that road a few times," Winter said. "So it's just a matter of, 'What's the honest version of that story?' so we're not just throwing them together to throw them together. They've had a beginning, middle and end, so what's the next step for them? Is there a next step?"

Castle season 8 premieres Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
