So far the Necktie Killer has been targeting Salem residents who aren't held with the highest amount of respect in the community, but now, whoever is making a habit of strangling women to death by wrapping a tie around their necks will seek out his biggest target yet on Days of Our Lives.

Rafe Is Furious When His Father Arrives Back In Salem

After previously attacking and killing Serena Mason and Paige Larsen-and potentially setting things up so it looks like Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) has been committing the crimes-the killer will now head for Marlena Evans (Deirdre Hall)--who would mark the biggest target he or she has sought since beginning their reign of terror on the small town.

The attack on Marlena will likely be a part of an attempt to try continuing the effort to frame Chad for the murders. Not only was Chad the last one to see both Serena and Paige alive before their murders-and he had small altercations with them, but Marlena has agreed to try and help Chad recover his memories from the times the murders occurred-where he was blackout drunk. Marlena is working with him-currently in secret-using hypnosis to try and figure out what happened.

Now, if the killer is trying to frame Chad and has realized that Marlena is working to help him uncover his memories-which could provide him with the alibi he needs in order to avoid going to prison for crimes he didn't commit-Marlena would be the obvious next target to go for, because if she dies, she can no longer help Chad-and he loses all hope of proving his innocence.
